EDUCATION BOARD

The monthly meeting,of the Okgo Education Board was resumed to-day, Mr JWallace presiding. RETIRING ON SUPERANNUATION. The following teachers were reported to be retiring on superannuate u:—Miss M'Kenzio, mistress, George Street; Miss M‘Naught, mistress, Oamaru South; Mr Cowan, head master, Weston; Mr Tyndall, head master, Strath Talert; Mr John Beattie, head master, Clinton. “These teachers have done good service for the board,” said the _ Chairman, “ and I am sure yon will all join with me in walling them a long time of usefulness yCt ' RESIGNATIONS. Hepluirn, sole teacher, Pukeli. vice Annie D. Fraser (resigned). SCHOOL ATTENDANCE. The report of the attendance officer (Mr J. E. Ryan) stated:—“l report for the month ending tho 6th mst. that, from head teachers’ reports and also from the various city and subuijflan schools that I have visited, I find that, with tho exception of those pupils who are affected by illness of various kinds, the general attendance over the, whole of the Otago education district is very satisfactory at the present time.” “ The most satisfactory report we have had for a long time,” remarked the chairman. “We must see if we can keep nur proud position of top average attendance for New Zealand.” The report was adopted, RKLTEVING TEACHERP, The .secretary reported that there were at present thirty-three relieving teachers. Six teachers were on sick leave, and two on ordinary leave GENERAL. Accounts were passed for payment to the amount of £25,205 7s.
