When the inquest was resumed Mrs Delmont, who lard tho murder complaint, failed to substantiate her first story. She now says that Arbuchle merely followed Miss Rapps into the bedroom and closed the door. Ho did not drag her in. Mho described Miss Rapps as tearing off her. own clothes. Tho inquest proceedings became rather farcical when Mrs Belmont grew sleepy on the witness stand and told tho coroner haltingly that she took a hypodermic before coming into court.—Renter. CHIEF WITNESS MISSING. LONDON, September 13. Tho chief witness against Arbuckle has mysteriously disappeared.—Reuter. WOMEN WITNESSES. PROSECUTING COUNSEL’S THREAT. SAN FRANCISCO, September 13. Tim grand jury announced that it cannot indict Arbuckle until it obtains further evidence regarding certain matters which must bo cleared up, Tho prosecuting attorney announced that several women witnesses before the grand jury reversed their .statements concerning what happened in the room where Miss Rappo received her injuries. The attorney declar'd that he will ask for the prosecution of theso witnesses on tho ground of perjury. If the grand jury fails to indict lie will proceed with the prosecution of Arbuckle under the Police Court charge of murder.—A. and N.Z. Cable. A MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE.
