BALMACEWAN TENNIS CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. The chairman CMr S. N. Brown, yen.) presided at the,*mnual meeting of the Balrnacewen Tenuis Club, and in proposing the adoption of the report congratulated members on continued progress and success. During the sixteen years of its existence the tennis section of the Balrnacewen Club had carried on very smoothly and with steady increase from year to year, and the General had not been sparing in its efforts to encourage this section. Their requirements had been generously met. and it was most pleasing to know that the three sections comprising the club—bowling, tennis, and croquet —were 'in entire hanupny. Such a condition was somewhat exceptional in clubs so constituted. Tennis was growing in popularity throughout the Empire, and had found the high place it deserved in the field of outdoor .sports.
The annual report stated that the Brown medals and the ladder places were keenly competed for during the season, and many of the young players greatly improved their position, and the medals changed hands many times, tho last holders being Miss Odie and Mr S, N. Brown. The association’s Easter tournament was well supported by members, who worthily upheld the club’s reputation. A combined social and dance of the general club was held in the Coronation Hall in June, and was well attended by members of the tennis section, as also were the Saturday night monthly socials held in the pavilion. The following officers were elected: — Vice-president, Mr S. N. Brown, s|n.; secretary, Mr A. M'Millan; General Commiltee—tAJ&srs M. Stevenson, H. Balk, M. Scott, and J. dark; Ladies’ Committee—Mrs’ Stevenson, Mrs Butchers. Misses R. Harrop, and M. Balk; Match Committee—Messrs A. M'Millan, 11. Balk, and M.
