Carrington, after spending two veaxs in America mid England, has returned to Dunedin under engagement to C. and W. Hayward, Limited. The City Council lust evening passed resolutions of sympathy with the relatives in tho deaths of cx-Counci!lors Huthorford and ArJde, The ninny Dunedin friends of Dr Oswald Fvffo Lamb (Into of the Dunedin Hospital staff) will be pleased to .hear that news has been received by cable that -he lias succeeded in obtaining his F.R.C.S. at a recent examination held in Edinburgh. ■ c Mr J. K. Macfio left Dunedin this morning for Gisborne. Mr and Mrs E. Roberts started to-day for a trip to Auckland. Mr R. S. .'Black went north by the 11.15 (rain to-day, being called to Wellington on account of the death of his youngest daughter. Mr J. Horn, M.P., travelled to Wnimate to-day. Mr Peter Doull, Collector of Customs at Timaru, travelled thither to-day from Dunedin. Mr E. Abbey Jones started to-day for a trio to Sydney.
