TEETOTALLERS SURPRISED
LIVE LONGER, BUT ARE LONGER ILL.
At a meeting of the Dundee district of tho Independent Older of Rrchabilcs, thcvalualiou under the National Insurance Act was dbcussed, and the question was asked why the smplus for increased benefits was smaller than in tho case „of certain other approved societies. Tho explanation given was that, as the Rcchabiies are a temperance society, the average life of members is longer than tho ave ago of members of non-temperance societies, and therefore (hero was a natural liability to longer periods of .sickness, especially in later years of life. In view of this expeo'ed sickness, larger sums were carried to nseve, and the amount available for immediate increases was correspondingly reduced.
