FABIOLA
AT THE OCTAGON". ‘ Fabiola,’ which opens at the Octagon to-night, is an adaptation of Cardinal "Wiseman’s gro.at story, portraying the luxury, poverty, splendor, and cruelty of Imperial Rome, with pictures of the steadfast faith of those early Christians, who suffered martyrdom for their belief. Fabiola was the daughter of that famous military Roman Fabius. Reared in the lap of barbaric luxury, proud, imperious, and cruel,, she comes yet to recognise the Christ through witnessing the cheer-fully-endured sufferings of Christians for their faith. The theme is inspiring, and the story altogether fascinating. The romance is magnificently portrayed. The management announces the special engagement of Mr Leslie H. Goddard, who will play on the big pipe organ during the screening of ‘ Fabiola.’ Mr J. Leech and Mrs Wilfred Andrews will sing ‘ Lead, Kindly Light’ (London), ‘Bo Thou Faithful Unto Death’ (Mendelssohn), ‘ Avo Maria’ (Mascagni), and the ‘ Miserere’ duo from ‘II Trovatore.’ The Octagon orchestra will play an appropriate musical programme. The box plan is at Begg’s.
