Tho Kaituna, which, arrived at Auckland yesterday morning from Melbourne, Hobart, and Newcastle, brought a largo cargo from Hobart, including x 188,268 ft hardwood timber. 339,150 ft hardwood sleepers, 595 bundles of palings, 125 tons of zinc, and 11,256 ft of timber other than hardwood. Nows to hand by tho last Australian mail_ states that owing to lack of cargo offering tlio Union Steam Ship Company’s steamer Paloona, which is listed to leave Melbourne on Juno 21 for New Zealand ports, will not call at Hobart, as originally intended, but she may include mat port in her new itinerary on her return trip to Wellington in about a month’s time Ad rice received from Melbourne states that difficulty is evidently being experienced by tho United States and Australian steamer Donald M'Kay in obtaining ah outward cargo in Australia for America. The steamer was anchored in the bay at Melbourne for several months waiting for cargo. She then went to Fremantle for loading, and returned to Melbourne recently The Donald M'Kay is due at Dunedin about June 23 to load additional cargo. The Paloona arrived at Melbourne on Thursday night from Wellington. She is to sail on Tuesday for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington. The Karina was delayed in working cargo at Dunedin last night and this morning owing to heavy rain, and her departure for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland has been postponed until Monday in consequence. The Kamona is to leave Westport this evening with a cargo of coal for discharge at New Plymouth and Onelmnga. Tho Corinna is due at Dunedin to-mor-row morning from Wellington. She will sail on Monday for Nelson and New' Plymouth via ports. The Kokiri, with a timber cargo from Greymouth, was lying idle at Lyttelton to-day owing to a shortage of waterside labor. The Trevose was floated out of dock at Lyttelton yesterday. She is to sail this evening for Newcastle, where she will load again for a New Zealand port. The Storm is due at Dunedin on Monday from Lyttelton to load f6r Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington. The Calm is due here on Monday from Lyttelton to load for Timaru, Lyttelton, Picton. and Wanganui. The John, which arrived here yesterday afternoon from Wanganui, will sail to-day for Camarn, Timaru, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Tofua, which is due at Auckland on Monday morning from Suva, is timed to leave the northern port on June 25 for Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Maori arrived at Lyttelton at 7.45 a.m. to-day from Wellington, and mails and passengers connected with the first express for the south. EASTERN CROWN AT AUCKLAND. The U.S. and A. Lino’s chartered steamer Eastern Crown arrived at Auckland this morning from New York via Panama. After discharging'part cargo at Auckland the vessel will visit Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, mid Australian ports to complete discharge. She should arrive here early in July.
