WILD MAN OF THE WOODS
WIFE FOUND IN BEAR TRAP.
The authorities of Laurel (Missouri) arc much mystified over a strange trio who have found their way into a village called Lux. They aro a man, his fifty-year-old “ wife,” and a two-year-old baby girl. Tho two former have been living like wild creatures in a' shack in o remote part of the country for years. The woman has lost an eve, which she declares m a rambling statement was “ scratched out by a wild cat.” When found, the "man—who says ho caught his ” wife ” in a bear trap twentyfive years ago —wore doilies that were ad tattered and tom, while the woman wore tho scanty remnants of a one-garment house dress, and the Baby was naked. trio had Jived on roots, wild fruits, and game winch had boon topped. Although. the man’s mind is said by the authorities to bn more nearly normal than tho woman’s, ho is unable to account for the child. The baby is perfectly heuAliy.
