OCTAGON. Patrons of the Octagon had, last night, their first view* of ‘ Under Crimson Skies,’ the Universal feature, ami it may bn said with truth that in spite of iho high anticipations of the audience, no one was disappointed. Elmo Lincoln plays the part of the captain of a tramp schooner plying the southern seas. The story_ affords some wonderful opportunities for marine scenes, all of wliich. hare been taken advantage of by the directors and the camera mao. Tiio view of a crow reefing sail during a terrific storm at soa is one ftf the moat effective scenes thrown on the screen for a long time. A picture depicting the Davis Cup matches is among the supports. Mr R. M. Kidston, the groat tennis critic, said of this picture;— “It was to mo, who witnessed the whole match,, quite thrilling. One can follow the flight of the hall right through the rally, and study again the individual brilliance 'if each player.” The other pictures arc all good.
QUEEN’S AND KING ED WARD. 1 Two Weeks,’ a screen adaptation of Anthony Wharton’s stage success entitled ; At the Born,’ is doing good business at the above houses. This is a very fine comedy-drama, and contains many humorous scones, which occur during tho star’s (Constance Talmadgc) attempts to win the love of a woman-hater. Good supports are shown. O’BRIEN’S EMPIRE. Wallace Reid in ‘ Double Speed ’ is tho chief attraction at. O’Brion’s Empire. Mr Reid appears as ” Speed ” Carr, a Now York millionaire, who loaves Now York and reaches Los Angeles a tramp. Then ho becomes a chauffeur, and is arrested for using liis real nemo. Also on tho bill is Bryant Washburn in ‘A Fnll House,’ an amusing comedy-drama. The supports are good. EVERYBODY'S. Olivo Thomas has a pleasing role in ‘ Everybody’s, Sweetheart,’ now showing at Everybody’s. Miss Thomas’s work in this picture is exceptionally good, and the production affords her an abundance of those opportunitiesfor good acting which every star_longs for. There is a well-selected list of supporting items, GRAND AND PLAZA. ‘ Sunset Sprague,’ featuring William Fox’s Western actor. Buck .Tones, is tho main item at the Grand and Plaza. The story is full of thrilling moments, and the settings and acting are very good. ‘The Husband Hunter,’ starring Eileen Percy, is among the supports. A Chaplin comedy, a comedy-drama, and a Fox production are included in a very good programme at the King’s.
