Falling as it does on Anzac Day, thft programme for tie society’s concert on that occasion has been specially selected to honor our soldiers and sailors. Tho choral epic, ‘ Songs of the Fleet/ is a splendid tribute to the courage and fortitude of our sailors, as also is tho 1 Viking’s Song of Farewell.’ Tho society will give,' in addition, ‘The Phantom Host’ (Hogar). that powerful part song descriptive of tho disaster which befel a Swedish army whilst crossing a mountain pass in winter. This number was performed by tho society some months hack, when it created intense enthusiasm. Two other military part songs to be jjivon, ‘ Tho Commemoration of tho Victory of Salamis ’ and Dr Calcott’s ‘ Peace to the Souls of tho Heroes’—numbers which are appropriate to Amac Day.' Under special engagement to tho Dunedin Male Choir, tho eminent Australian lyric soprano, Miss Rosa. Alba, will make her first appearance in New Zealand. A largo orchestra (an innovation in the society s activities) will accompany some of the part songs, besides rendering various selections. Tho box plan opens at the Bristol on Tuesday next, where day sale tickets may also bo obtained.
