Information has been received that Professor Jack, Professor of Physics at Otago University, is expected at Auckland by the Makura on April 22. Mr James Adam, of St. Kilda, who Was a member of St. Kilda Council when he enlisted for war service and who took an active part in the inauguration of the St. Kilda Library, lias been nominated for election to the St. Kilda, Council at the forthcoming elections. Tho Hon. IV. Downio Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs, will reach Dunedin this evening and remain here a few days. Messrs Knight (chairman) and Talboys, and M'csdanics Jackson and Macfie, members of the Otago Hospital Board, called on Mrs Gordon at her residence yesterday to present her with a liand hag (tho work of the Montocillo Convalescent Home), as a token of appreciation of the services which she has rendered to the board for a period extending over ten years. The chairman made the presentation on behalf of the hoard and executive officers, and Mrs Gordon feelingly replied. ]\lr E. D. Mosley, S.M., returned to Tima.ni this morning. Mr C. F. Knowles Kcmpton left yesterday for Invercargill, whore ho is to conduct rc-opeuing scrviccs at tho Esk Street Baptist Church, which was seriously damaged by lire recently.
