FASHION’S FORESHADOWINGS.
[By Isabel Ramsay, Parisian Correspondent lor the ‘ Sunday Times,’ Sydney.]
Parisian in Monkey Pnr.—Molyneux has launched a fashion which is one of the most original of a season sparkling with wiginalities. This consists of a gown, cut 60 as to show one shoulder, the other remaining covered up. What is universally popular is monkey fur. Every now and again there is an outcry against this form oi decoration, and its doom is threatened, and Just as often as this happens one of the aesigners launches an Irresistible model trimmed with monkey fur, or else one of the shops along the boulevards shows iu its window some bag, hat, or dainty objeat on which this fur figures in such a delectable manner that the smart elite cannot resist its temptation. So monkey fur, like an exiled monarch, comes back Into popular favor once more. A smart sloth or Doveton coat will have collar and cufia of monkey fur plus a deep band of the same fur round them. A new idea for employing it is to drape it along and down, so that it curves round and tapors o£E like an uncurled ostrich feather. Jade Green for Children.—Jade green is the favorite color for children’s wear jnst now, the most attractive little coats, with hats to match, being designed in cloth of this shade. The coats are invariably mounted on circular yokes, the skirt part Being ungathered and narrowing in at the hem, a line that is apt to make tiny tots of two or three look very like little barrels on legs. Beaver, squirrel, and ermine are the furs used for trimming. Pleats and flounces figure on frocks made of lighter material, very often a plainlymade bodice of embroidered velvet being allied to a skirt of two or three flounces of pleated crepe <l® chine. With frocks that are not pleated the fulling, like tliat of the grown-ups, is brought well to the sides.
