RIFLE SHOOTING
WAIRARAPA MEETING, The annual rifle meeting of the Wairarapa Rifle Association commenced on Saturday on the Pa-pawai range at Groytnwn in glorious weather. It is a curtainraiser to the Dominion gathering which begins at Trontham on Thursday. Two, hundred and fifty riflemen competed, including 100 tyros. Before shooting commenced every i-ille was tested. Two possibles were registered by Eric Ballinger (Petone) in the Auckland Match, 500yds, and by Cansley (Thames) in the Wellington Match, of 600yds.
