EXAMINATION BY EXPERTS. [Special to the ‘ Star.’] CHRISTCHURCH, February 28. Dr Frank Hay, Inspector-General _of Mental Hospitals, and Dr Hassell, formerly superintendent of tho Parirua Mental Hospital, and who is recognised as one of the ’ Dominion's foremost alienists, have examined Matthews, the Timaru murderer. Although the report of the doctors will be, required as soon as possible, in view of the aporoach of Hie time at winch, failing intervention hv Cabinet, Matthews is to be hanged, it does not follow that this examination was tho final one.
