The Kamo is to leave Westport to-night f«r Lvttelton. The Karovi left Wellington this morning for Greymouth to load for Lyttelton. . There was a moderate ewell on the bare at Westport and Greymouth to-day. The Union Company advise that an effort is being made to despatch the Navna from Auckland to-morrow afternoon for Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga. The Kotare. is still bar-bound at Wnikawa. The vessel is loaded with timber for Dunedin.

The Sealda will complete discharging her Eastern cargo to-day. Several hundred tons of sand ballast are now being placed on board, and when this work ;s completed the vessel will sail for Sydney. The Manuka is timed to leave Sydney to-day for Wellington, where she is dim on Monday next. She- is listed to roa-vo Wellington on March 3 for Sydney and Hobart. The Dunedin-owned steamer Stella is still detained at Wellington, like a number of other boats, owing to inability to get coaled. She- has a full cargo under her batches for Auckland. The C. and D. Line has received cable advice that the Port Mncquarrio arrived at Melbourne on tho 19th inst. from London via Capo Town. The vessel is duo a-t Auckland about March 14. and at \\ ellington about ten days later. The Government steamer , Hinemoa arrived back at Wellington from her round trip to tho northern, lighthouses on Saturday last. Tho vessel landed 200 tons qt building material at Capo Maria, this work occupying over a fortnight. >-ho also paid a visit to the 1 hreo Kings, ana found the provision depots intact. The Now Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Ruahine’s sailing lor London has been postponed indefinitely on account of the wharf trouble. Ihe Ruahino is at present in Wellington, but is not working. _ The Capo Premier arrived at AnCidand last Sunday afternoon from Durban. The steamer left Durban on January 16, and experienced exceptionally fine weather the voyage. Her cargo consisted of -5, 1 82 tons of coal, Tho Capo Premier, built at Montreal two years ago, was formerly known as the War Faith. Captain Williams is in command. Tho Poverty Bay Farmers Meat Company’s steamer Admiral Codviugton left Albany (West Australia! about February 10 for Sydney. Lino advise that the Port Hacking, which js now dischargin'- case oil at Napier, will subsequently visit Wellington, then Lyttelton," and Dunedin to discharge part cargo. Owing to the waterside trouble it is indefinite when she. will reach this port. The Port Hacking will complete unloading at Melbourne and Sydney, and will afterwards return to Now Zealand te load for tho United Kingdom. Tho steamer Otara-ma. which bad been delayed at Auckland, soiled last evening for Wellington to discharge part cargo from Liverpool. She will subsequently visit Lvttelton and Dunedin to enmp’ote discharge. Owing to the waterfront troubio the vessel’s arrival here, cannot be forecasted. Tho local agents for tho Federal Line advise that the Ota-rama has been fixed to load in Now Zealand for either Liverpool or Manchester, or 'both She, will probably be despatched from tho Dominion towards tho end of March. THE CANADIAN~WINNE.R. The Canadian Government steamer Canadian Winner arrived at Auckland on Sunday last from Vancouver via Melbourne and Sydney, and took up an anchorage in tho stream. Tho vessel, which is paying her first visit to Auckland, brought n number of passengers from Sydney," IjOOO,oooft of timber from Vancouver, ‘and 600 tons of general cargo from Australian ports. On discharge she will load for Vancouver. Captain W. Wingate, who is in command, visited Auckland eighteen years ago as fourth officer of the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Ruapehu.

' WAIMANA WITH PASSENGERS. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company has received cable advice that, the liner Waimana loft the United Kingdom on February 16. in ballast, for Wellington via Panama. The vessel is carrying about 900 passengers. She is due at Wellington about April 11. FROM GUNBOAT TO STEAMER. Built, as one of her former officers described, in the “bow and arrow” period, the gunboat Gayundah, which was to leave Melbourne early this month for Queensland for alterations, is to he converted into a cai*)jo steamer for the Queensland coastal trade. The Gayundah was built nearly forty years ago. and is a sister ship of the steamer Palumah, since renamed tho Rip, which is assisting in deepening operations at Melbourne Heads. Captain Wright, R.N., was the Gayundah’s first commander. For many years the vessel was stationed in Queensland as a gunboat, and during the war she did patrol duty under tho command of Captain Curtis, R.N. When at Brisbane some years go she was picked up by flood waters and deposited'in tho Botanic Gardens. WIRELESS FROM PALOONA. A wireless message received from the captain of the Paloona states that the vessel will arrive at Bluff about 4.30 a.m. on Saturday from Melbourne. The Union Company advises that the Paloona will probably reach Dunedin on Sunday. OUTGOING SAN FRANCISCO MAIL. Tiie mail steamer Manama left Sydney yesterday afternoon for Wellington, where she is due on Sunday. The vessel is timed to leave Wellington on March 1 for Rarotonga, Papeete, and San Francisco. RUAPEHU FROM ENGLAND. The Now Zealand Shipping Company advise that tho Ruapehu, which loft Lon don on January 14 for Lyttelton and Dunedin, will call first at Wellington in land North Island passengers.
