SALES ON ’CHANGE TO-DAY. Wellington.—Reported sale : Taringamuts Timber, 26s 6cl. STUD SHEEP AND CATTLE. SUCCESSFUL SALE. [Pea DHITBD PRESS Associatiok.] INVERCARGILL, February 23. Mr W. D. Hunt’s second annual sale of stud Friesian cattle and Romney Marsh sheep was bold to-day, and was highly successful. The attendance, despite _ the bad weather, was very large, and prices, in view of the stringency of the money market, exceeded all anticipations. Australian and North Island buyers were operating, but local breeders were keen competitors. The top price of 230 gs was paid for a three-year-old heifer bred by the vendor, which was purchased by Mr T. Eades, of Southland. A three-months heiier calf was sold to an Australian for 92‘*s. Bull calves sold ns under t—UOgs, to°Mr Shand (Otago); lOOgs, to Mr R. Melvin, jun. (Masterton); HOgs, to Mr F. Price (Southland). Thirty-two bull calves averaged 44gs, the forty-four Friosians realising 2,304g5. Rams, for so large a number, sold exceptionally well, we top price for stud rams being 90gs. Iwo hundred two-tooth flock rams averaged 4ies, and 220 two-tooth ewes realised 1,128g5, the sheep all remaining in Otago and Southland. WOOL MARKET REPORT. Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co., Ltd., have received the following wool market cablegram from their London agents i—“Sales opened with joint offering old stock and new clip. Merino, best descriptions, declined 5 to 10 per cent-, other descriptions ■ declined 15 per cent. Cross-bred declined 10 Jo 15 per cent, j medium shows greatest decline.”
