First Dax.—Mondax. Weather dull, but improving, when the races started. The attendance was fully up to the average. The course was in beautiful order, the light rain having taken the sting out of the ground. The St. Kilda Band provided the music. M'Chesney). Take Down was first away from Endure, Mandrake a little slow in moving. Barrister rushed to the front, and led over the first fence from Take Down and Endure. Barrister and Endure were making the pace all the way, Barrister always a little the better of it, until reaching the six furlongs, where Jack Symons headed Endure, Barrister keeping in front. Calma fell at the second la'st fence, and Good Start pecked badly. At the last hurdle Barrister was a length in front of Jack Symons, and ridden right out he won by six lengths, with Mandrake eight lengths away, then Endure, Good Start, and Take Down, lime, 3min 22sec. Lady Pallas and Galway broke through the barrier and went a furlong before they could be pulled up. Galway led Lady Pallas and Etta, .Mazama and Roniform being slow to move. Going along the back Galway led Chinatown, Lady Pallas, Roniform tailed off. Approaching the hill Mazama came through, and was heading Galway before reaching the straight. He •then drew right out, and in the run home won by three lengths from Etta, who beat Galway by a neck, with Mirza two lengths away, followed by Whipcord and Lady Pallas. Time, Imin 43Jseo. Inside the distance Sungleam same with a fine run, and, cutting down the leaders opposite the stand, won by a length and a half from Kilcullen, who finished wide and beat Tatau Tatau and Humboldt by hal . fa length. Almoner was first out, but Radial took up the running _ from Jock. Linden, and W arlove. Entering the back straight Jock was in front from Sunny Corner, with Radial and Linden next. At the five-fur-long iiost Malaga was just in front of Jock, Warlove, and Sunny Corner. At the far turn Malaga still led from Warlove and Tin Soldier, Radial having dropped back last. Turning for home Malaga still led from Warlove, with Warlike next; but Warlove took charge at the distance post, and lasted long enough to beat off Linden by a short neck; Warlike four lengths away, then Malaga, Tin Soldier, Radial, and Almoner. Time, 2min B|sec. Winner favorite.
