The Reserves Committee recommended that the application of Messrs Earra Bros., Ltd., for lease of section 8, block 63, be approved. The committee further recommended that a sub-committee be appointed to report relative to the leasing of sections at Aramoana and the making of provision for residents and other's getting to and from the Spit at week-ends. Mr Wilkinson suggested that the board might be able to make arrangements to run a service to the Spit during the holidays. • Mr Loudon thought that the board might offer a subsidy to private enterprise. Mr Douglas said that they wanted to do their utmost to open up the sections at the Spit. Tire board, as a public body, had to take the initiative. They could not depend on private enterprise/ There was no facilities at the present time for people to take up sections at the Spit, Mr Dickson said that a number of people who had sections at the Spit had boats of their own, .and carried-passengers. Unless the board was prepared to establish a service for teix months in the year they might as well leave it alone. The proposition was unsound, as made at present.
