LADIES' GOLF

The winners among the couples on Satnrday afternoon were Mr J. H. Drake and Miss Cossens. of the St. Clair Club who returned a card showing the good score of " all square," and they were closely followed by their clubmates, Mr C. B. Wight and Miss Watson, with a score of 1 down. The competition attracted the large field of 34 couples. At the presentation of trophies Dr Ross captain of the Otago Golf Club, stated that the Ladies' Club regretted that they had not more visiting competitors, but the few visitors who had come were not lackin quality, and one of them, Mrs Orbell, of Oamaru, had succeeded in winning the major event. Mrs Orbell briefly replied on behalf of the visitors. Mrs Rattray, captain of the Otago Ladies' Golf Club, then presented the prizes as follows : —Ladies' champion of Otago, Mrs Orbell (North Otago); runnerup, Mrs Cook; best net score in qualifying round for the Misses Mill cup and trophy, Miss M'lnfosh; Bogey Handicap, Miss Cossens;' Medal Handicap, Mrs Dodgshun; Flag Match, Mrs M'Carthy; driving competition, Mrs Orbell; approaching and putting, Mrs Aiken; mixed foursome, Mr J. H. Drake and Miss Cossens; runner-up, Mr C. B. Wight and Miss Watson (clubs, presented by tho club's professional, Mr A. J. Milliner); putting competition, Mrs Orbell 1, Miss M'lntosh and Miss Humphries (tie) 2;' Mr Milliner's trophy for four best putting scores, Mrs Orbell; runner-up, Mrs M'Carthy.
