COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS' CHOIR
CONCERT FOR THE OLD PEOPLE. The choir of the Commercial Travellers' Association' entertainers visited the Benevolent Institution on Saturday night, and sang a number of their well-known partsongs, under, the conductorehip of Mr Thomas Ritchie. Mr T. Amos contributed flute and piccolo pieces; Messrs J. M'Clymont, T. Ritchie, ~R. S. Wardrop, and H. H. S. White sang solos ; and Mr Wardrop recited 'On Strike.' All the items appeared to give great pleasure. During the interval fruit and refreshments were provided by members of the association. Mr S. Porteotts, on behalf of the manager (Mr Portecras), who was indisposed, thanked the choir for entertaining them so pleasantly, statins how much such visits wero appreciated by all, and hoping another visit to the institution ■would soon follow. Mr Wardrop (chairman of the committee) replied on behalf of the choir. The members were afterwards entertained at supper by the matron (Mrs Portecras).
