BUILDING TRADESIFEDERATION
At a meeting of the Dunedin Building Trades Federation a letter was received from the Minister of Labor asking tlio federation's co-operation in the matter of the Government's scheme to erect dwelling-houses.-—lt was decided to reply" that until the federation received more data they could not commit themselves to the scheme. The Board of Trade vvroto asking the federation to nominate a on the Special Committee of the Dunedin Advisory Committee.—lt was agreed to nominate Mr L. F. Evans. The Town Clerk wrote that the City Coum.il did not consider it advisable to make any arrangements with, the federation for the erection of workers' dwellings, as requested, by reason of the fact that the difficulties the council would be faced with in procuring sufficient supplies of necessary materials seemedt to bo too groat to accept the federation's offer. The Wellington Federation wrote that they were in communication with the local City Council and the Government, with' a vie*7 to coming to some material arrangement in the way of assisting them in the erection of dwellings. The Plumbers' Union wrote appointing Mr S. Devcroux as their second representative on the federation. The following executive were appointed fnr the ensuing year:—President, Mr li. B. Baskntt; vice-president, Mr H. V. Freeman ; secretary, Mr L. F. Evans.
