METHODIST CENTRAL MISSION
I The quarterly officials'' meeting of the Methodist Central Mission was held on Wed- ! nesday evening, when Rev. C. Boston presided ovpr.a large attendance. The reports on membership, young people's societies, : Bible classes, and other organisations Ijghowed that steady and- satisfactory work ,#as being done. The balance-sheet displayed a good credit on the quarter, and I allocations were made to Sunday school, trustees, young people's connexional fund, and sisterhood account.
The present superintendent (Rev. C. Eaton) was unanimously invited to remain for the seventh year, and appreciation expressed regarding his ministrations and service.
Sister Emily received a unanimous invitation to continue as deaconess, and was congratulated on the success attending the girls' rest room and midday luncheon, a work which was much appreciated by the girls of the City, as from 25 to 30 girls attended each day and enjoyed the comforts of the rest room. Both invitations wero accepted, to the evident p'leasure of rho officials.
Messrs T. Sanders and D. C. jmi.._ were elected representatives to Invercargill Synod, and Messrs H. H. Johnston, Moffatt, and Cameron delegates to Dunedin Methodist Council. -
A recommendation was forwarded to Synod to consider tho establishment of a, Methodist, orphanage in Dunedin. A motion of sympathy with Rev. C. Eaton was carried in tho passing away of his father in Auckland recently.- Home and Foreign Mission mutters were reported on, and income will be well up to the average. Thanks were accorded the preachers who so ably and willingly supplied the pulpit services during Mr Eaton's absence in Australia .Mr C. A. Martin was congratulated on his efficient services as choirmaster and organist, and appreciation expressed of the services of the choir and soloists.
_ Tho meeting considered various sugg<»fcions for aggressive work fid now enterprises which it is hoped soon to put into operation for increasing the usefulness and efficiency of the mission. The attendance nt services is very encouraging, and recent definite spiritual results have cheered all members and workers.
