_ The Bolsheviks, when signing the armistice, stated that they only did 60 under compulsion. The truce will be effective from October 18.—A. and N.Z. Cable.

MUTUAL RENUNCIATIONS.

LONDON, October 14. (Received October 15, at 9.5 a.m.)

A Moscow wireless message states that the armistice terms renounce interference by cither party in the other's internal affairs, the cessation of support to General Wrangel and General Petoura, ar.d the renunciation of any claim for war expenses. The armistice begins on October 18, and will last 21 days. A neutral zone of 15 kilometres has been fixed along both sides of the frontier.—A. and N.Z. Cable.

REDS IN CENTRAL ASIA.

RUTHLESSNESS AND INTRIGUE

DELHI, October 13. Indignation has been called among the Moslems in Central Asia by the Bolshavii: ruthlessness against tho civil population of Bokhara, who have been driven from tho city. Refugees arriving at Meshed state that Bolshevik artillery destroyed the city, which was set on fire in three places. The Reds seized the Governor and other officials, whose fate is -unknown.—Reuter.

Tho delegation to India has been recalled to Kabul, owing to a reported change in the attitude of the Amir towards tho British Government. The Afghan Minister is proceeding to Tashkend and Merv to meet Djemal Pasha, who is staying at the latter place with a small TurcoRi:ssian following. The Amir has provided facilities for the reception of various Bolsheviks who are arriving at Kabul in small batches.—A and N.Z. Cable.

AN IMPERFECT TREATY.

RIGA, October 13.

The armistice between Russia, Poland, and the Ukraine has been signed, after three weeks of verbal sparring, finishing with four days and nights of uninterrupted debate. It is not regarded as a permanent settlement, but is generally considered to be a contrivance to avoid winter fighting. The worst feature of the treaty is the treatment of Lithuania, which is'left in tho lurch by the Bolsheviks and at the mercy of Poland.—'Times.'

ANTI-BOLSHEVIK MOVEMENT.

COPENHAGEN, October 14. (Received October 15, at 9.45 a.m.)

It is reported that the Social Revolutionaries' leaders in Spiridovna and Tchernov have formed an anti-Bolshevik Government atNijni-Novgorod. Other towns are joining the movement, ;.*d are demanding a new constitution and a National Assembly.—A. aud N.Z. Cable.
