With reference to General headquarters instructions No. 29, issued bn?May 14 re ; i garding emblem to be worn oh riband of Victory Medal to denote that the wearer has been mentioned in despatches, the following is a continuation:—“ Two sizes of emblem are issued. The; larger will be worn with the Victory Medal affixed 4 id the centre of the riband at an angle,of 60deg from the inside edge of the riband, stem to the-right. The smaller will be worn transversely across the riband, stem to the right when the medal is.not worn.’’ , It frequently occurs that Soldiers entitled to receive the 1914-15 Star sign the form'submitted to them with different or additional initials or with a surname spelt differently from that shown upon their’attestation papers and military records. If such corrections are made before the medal is engraved, and are supported by a statutory declaration, the name: as corrected will be engraved upon the’ medal. If, however, the engraving has been carried out in accordance with the name and initials shown on the official records before the correction is received, no alteration can be made, excepting on prepayment of 5s to cover cost of a new Star in each instance.
