MORNINGTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

In presenting the fortieth annual report and statement of accounts, the managens congratulate the congregation ou tile satisfactory' position revealed by the balancesnect. In spite of very heavy expenditure, tire managers have been able to pav off all outstanding debts, with the exception of the small mortgage on the manse property, and the year has ended with a credit balance ot over £4. The increased expenditure 'was due in a large measure to extensive alterations mid improvements to the .manse, to the installation of heaters in the tiiurck and halls, repairs 1o footpaths, etc.: win'le the high price of material and labor lias added considerably to the cost of these undertakings. The congregation have responded most loyally and liberally to every call made on them, and every source of revenue shows a. decided improvement. Ordinary collections exceeded those of the previous year bv £55 9s 4d; the sustc-ntation fund shows 'an increase of £SB 5s 3d. while the -total receipts fop - 'missions amounted to £73 17s 2d more than last year. The sale of work in Juno realised the very eatisfactorv sum or £195. and all who contributed to this result have every reason to be satisfied. The revenue was further increased by a giant of £6O from the Church Property Board. The managers hope shortly to be in a position to proceed with*the installation of electric light and other necessary improvements in theTialls. The provision of an automatic engine for blowing tho organ has unfortunately had to stand over for some time, the cost being prohibitive, fro far as can be foreseen tue expenditure during the coming year should not te so heavy as in the vear just ended, and the managers look ’ forward with confidence to the. members and adherents continuing to support all tho various.works of the church with their usual liberality.
