LEGISLATION PROPOSED. From Ouk Parliamentary Reporter. AVFXLINOTON, July 1. The burning topic of the Asiatic'"influx to the Dominion was fanned by Mr Poland yesterday afternoon in, a question to the Prime Minister relative to the Government's proposed attitißle. He referred to the fact that returned so'diers’ associations throughout the Dominion had raised an indignant complaint, while the farmers’ unions also were showing concern .in. the matter which, Air Poland added, was one of public interest and one on which the Prime Minister shoo Id be given an early opportunity of making u statement of policy. The figures of arrival through the port of Auckland since January last totalled 389 Chinese, and 180 Hindus. "The increasing influx ,of Asiatics is. a serious social menace,” averred Ohinemuvi’a member.

A short Government measure introduced this afternoon requires the wives ol alien persons whose naturalisation was revoked under a gpec'al Act of 1917, and all aliens mpori reaching the age of 15 to register under the Aliens Registration Act, and to give notice of any change of name, the penalty for the latter not exceeding £2O, and for failure to register £SO. The revocation of the Naturalisation Act amendment, a measure introduced by the Minister of Internal Affairs, provides that in the case of naturalisation being revoked the Minister may order the surrender of the certificate and letters of naturalisation - under a penalty of three months’ imprisonment, or a flue of £IOO.
