J.Mackie). Clean Sweep was favorite. A good start, from which Cannie Jack first appeared, followed by Clean P-weep. After going two furlong 3 Barley Rigs was in charge, and a furlong further on he was leading Bengeroop. Barky Rigs faded away coming to the straight, leaving Bengeroop, Carmine, and Mettle Drift in front. Carmine led to the distance, where Clean Sweep found a passage through, and went on to win by a length, third half a length away, then Mettle' Drift, Bengeroop, and Black Mountain. Time, I'min 333ec. E. Ellis), Thistlecrown 7.0 (R, M'Donald). All_ Ready was favorite. Kilkee was put in the falso rail right away. Burrangong and Eleus were first to move out, Thaddeus being last away. Burrangong and Eleus were just in front of Kilkee and Bondage turning out of the straight. At the six furlongs Burrangong was a length in front of Eleus, with Kilkee some distance away, Thaddeus still last. Half way up the hill All Ready moved into second place, and at the turn into the straight was on level terms with Burrangong. At the distance Royal Star and Melee came with a good run, and the three fought a des'perato finish, Melee winning by a head from Royal Star; All Ready a similar distance aw : ay; Bondage was fourth, Almoner fifth, 'Burrangong sixth. O'Connor), Calma 9.4 (W. Robinson). Gunrest 9.0 (S. Wall), Achilleus 9.0 <T. O'Connell). All Talk favorite. Samiel showed out first, but Gaylight jumped past him at the first hurdles, Jack Svmons Iving next. At the stand hurdles Gaylight. again out-jumped Samiel. Gaylight and Jack Symons led into the straight the first time, and Gunrest nearly fell. Jack Symons headed Gaylight as'thev passed the stand, All Talk third. ■ In the back stretch Gaylight led All Talk and Jack Symons. All Talk made a bad jump at the five furlongs, and lost ground, but he lay second to Gaylight on the hill, Wild Pilgrim and Jack Symons next. Wild Pilgrim hit the second last fence hard. Gaylight led into the. straight, and here Hylans crime very fast, and in a fine fhu'sh between two Gaylight won by a Wild Pilgrim 10 lengths away, then Calma, Jack Symons, and All Talk. Reid). lvght Bells was favorite. After a falso start, in which Killowen went for a fur--1 long, a poor send-off was effected. Eight Bells was the first to show out. but was joined by Murihukn and Mortham after going a furlong. At the far turn Eight 1 Bells was two lengths in front of Muri- | hnku, who had Mortham and Kilbrogan lon her quarters. Halfway up the hill ■ Mortham had got within half a length of J the favorite. At the distf-nre post Pvjama I began a run, but Eight Bells led into the I st:a ! ght, and cantered home an easy J winner by six lengths from Mortham. who I heat Pvjama a head. Sleepy Head fourth. Diavolo led Gang Awa' and Merrie Lad to the post; and rails, and then ran off.. Merrie Lad led Gang Awa' and Crib over the water. Merrie Lad and-Crib -were eight lengths in front of Gang Awa' and San Sebastian at the stand double. San Sebastian jumped into third place at the sod wall. Crib led Merrie Lad by six lengths into the back stretch, and then San Sebastian J headed Merrie Lad. Nocturnal and Ganr ,Awa' ran off at the double in the back* I and Zarkoma and Silverspire fell at the Ipost and rails. Crib led San Sebastian : iour lengths over the water jump. At the distance San Sebastian caught Crib, but I the latter went away again, and won bv ■ three- lengths, a had third, Black Sea fourth. lime, smin 2Sisec. I Early in the afternoon there was a little ! unpleasantness over the refusal of the gatej keeper to allow trainers on the stand thev were accustomed to use. It turned out . that _there was some misunderstanding of j the instruction, and the resentment was I quickly allayed.
