NOTES FROM CANTERBURY. [Spbcial to thb • Stub.'] June 1. Ihe four-year-old gelding Onslaught bv Antagonist-Had Whirl has been sold bv Sir George Clifford to Messrs Clarkson and Pearson. Onslaught, who went amiss «p the eve of the recent Royal Meeting a„ Riecarton, is at present having a spell, bat later on he will be put into training again by J. B. Pearson. It 13 reported that Mr H. W. Brown has purchased from Mr J. Grigg the English-bred horse Counter Attack Lv Jaegar—Assertive. He is at present having a spell, after -which he will join. F. Chnstmas's stable. Bombproof is making a good recovery from his recent mishap, and he is again in steady work. Ho has been nominated for hack hurdle events at the Napier j Meetin 8» and it is probable that he will do a round of North Island fixtures. JOCKEYS' ASSOCIATION. The Advisory Board of the Transport Federation have given further consideration to the jockeys' dispute, and have decided not to withdraw their recommendation that racing be regarded as "black" until the Jockeys' Association are recognised by the Racing Conference. A notice to this effect has been sent to the committee set up by tho labor unions to handle the dispute. The Advisory Board consider that the dispute has not changed at all by the conference between the president of the Racing Conference and certain jockeys last Saturday. These jockevs did not represept the association though the claims they submitted for discussion had been made already by tho association. The Advisory Board contend that the organised jockeys have a right to bo recognised.

BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS. At the National Sporting Club, London, for the feather-weight championship of Europe, Wyans (the Belgian) defeated Mike Honeyman in the tenth round. Honeyman had the better'of the fight in the early stages, but a hefty left to the jaw sent him down five times in the tenth round, and the referee stopped tho fight. In the bantam championship of Europe Ledoux knocked out Jim Higgins in the eleventh round. There was considerable m-fighting in the early rounds, Higgins leading on points. Ledoux was the aggressor after the eighth round, and hard fighting ended in Ledoux winning with a right swing to the point. AUSTRALIAN EVENTS. The A.J.C. programme for the Winter Meeting at Randwick on June 10 and 12 in honor of the Prince of Wales provides for total stakes of £IO.OOO. 'The second clay includes the Gold Cup, the prize being worth £2,000. Three other events carry prizes of £I,OOO each. Entries for the Epsom Handicap, lm, total 178, including Biplane, Finmark, and Kilhope; and for the Metropolitan, lira, 116, including Biplane, Finmark, and All Ahoard. Entries for tho Melbourne Cup 2m, total 118, including All Aboard, Biplane, and Finmark. ENGLISH DERBY. Prince Galahad, one of the fancied candidates for the Epsom Derbv which is being run to-day, has been scratched for the event. LADIES' HOCKEY. The following entries have been received tor the eeven-a-side tournament to be held on the Caledonian Ground to-morrow : A Grade.—Balclutha, Otago (2), Momona, Ravensbourne, B Grade.—Technical College. Mosgiel High School, Balclutha High School, Otago Girls' High School (2), Normal Otago Milton, Waiata, Momona (2), Hearthfire (3), Ravensbourne, Taieri, Port Chalmers, Romahapa, Lawrence School.
