AUSTRALIAN MA2HLETS CLOSED.

CHRISTGHUECH, May 12. Tho secretary of the Canterbury Potato Growers' Association cabled to tiie Minister of Agriculture at Sydney asking definite information regarding the restriction on importation of New Zealand potatoes. The. Federal quarantine officer replied that owing to the existence of serious potato diseases, importation into Australia is prohibited.
