The steamer Port Chalmers, which arrived at Wellington on Saturday morning from Wanganui roadstead, is fixed to leave the northern port on April 28 for London via Panama. Tile City of Winchester was to have left Now York on April 20 for the four principal New Zealand ports. The C. D. Line advise that the Port Victor will now not leave Wellington until to-morrow for Lyttelton and Port Chalmers to complete Homeward loading. The vessel is to sail from Port Chalmers about May 5 for London via Panama. The Karamea is scheduled to • leave Montreal about the end of May for New Zealand and Australian ports. The Matatua, which left Lyttelton rn March 24 for London, left Colon on April 18. The Raranga sailed from Liverpool on April 17 for Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydnoy. and Brisbane. She is due in New Zealand for loading at the end of June. The coal shipments at Newcastle during the week - ending April 10 for places’ beyond tbo State totalled 52,686 tons; those for Commonwealth and New Zealand ports being 51,986 tons, and for foreign ports 9.235 tons. For the. corresponding period last year the total was 71,209 tons. The steamer _ Opihi arrived at Auckland last Friday night from Lyttelton, after a voyage Of under 70 hours, speed thus working out at an average" of 10 knots per hour. Tlie Mahana is to sail from London at the end of April, in ballast, with passengers for New Zealand via Panama. Swin. of the American barque Monongahela. who is ashore ill. is making a good recovery. The vessel is reported to leave Wellington to-day for Sydney. The ketch Te Waipounamu, which was sold to an Auckland bnver and sailed from Bluff at midnight on Saturday. 10th inst., arrived at Auckland last Thursday night, which is considered a good run for the size of the craft. The auxiliary schooner Houto arrived in the lower harbor at 10 last night from Lyttelton, and was berthed at Rattray street wharf this morning to discharge a quantity of general cargo. She will go to Port Chalmers to-morrow morning to undergo overhaul before being handed over to her new owners (Messrs Briscoe and Co.). The Gorinha, which arrived here at noon yesterday from Wellington, brought 6t5 tons of general cargo, which included transhipments ex the Moana from San Francisco. The Corinna is to sail to-night for way ports and New Plymouth. The tug Dunedin was berthed _fi_t the Victoria wharf to-day to have her boiler removed. Tlie Mokoia. which arrived at Lyttelton at noon yesterday from Dunedin' will sal! tins evening for way ports and Auckland. Ihe M aihora. After discharge at Auckland she will go to Newcastle. The Kowbai is expected to leave Greymouth to-morrow with a full cargo of timber for Dunedin. Tlie Poherua is to leave Dunedin tonight for Greymouth. where she will load coal for Lyttelton. A heavy gale was blowing on the West Coast to-day. There was a heavy sea on the bars at Greymouth and Westport, and both ports were unworkable. The Canadian Government liner Canadian Raider left Auckland on Saturday morning, bound for Montreal with a large shipment of New Zealand products. The liner Corinthic. which, is now completing her loading at Wellington, is timed to leave that port on April 30 for Southampton and London via Panama. Tbo Kurow will arrive off Otago Heads on night from Makatca Island. The vessel will berth at Port Chalmers on Thursday morning to discharge her era-go of phosphates. Carrying a full cargo of hardwood, tho Union Company steamer Karori left New. castle, on Saturday afternoon for Dunedin. A cablegram from Sydney states that the Tarawera, which left the New South W T ales port on Saturday afternoon for Bluff and Dunedin, encountered a heavy southerly gale shortly after clearing Sydney Heads. The vessel shipped several heavy seas, which stove in lifeboats and skylights. The Tarawera returned to Sydney to undergo repairs, reaching port at 2 a.m. on Sunday. D KUMARA LEAVES. NEW YORK.
