The accounts passed for pavmeiit amounted to £21.333 8s lid. The truant officer (Mr John E. Rvanl reported for the month ended the 19th. inst. as follows :—Two convictions were obtained in the Magistrate's Court, Dunedm, and two informations are laid for hearing. I hav? visited several of the city and suburban schools during the month, and find that the attendance is still affected by influenza, mumps, etc. Several of the schools that were down in numbers at the lK,*ining of the year have recovered considerably. The schools that are struggling to keep up their grade are Moray Place and Kensington. North-east Valley, Forbury, and" Caversham are crowded. On the recommendation of the architect it was resolved to repair the Normal School residence, and to instal the electric light as goon as possible. - Resolved to ask the Mental Hospital Department to supply, the Sea-cliff School with water. Tho application of the- Sawyers Bay Committee for increased school accommodation was not recommended by the architect. An application by the Bannoekburn Committee to connect a spring with the school was referred to Mr Horn and the architect to report. Mr J. A. Borric ~asked monetary assistance in clearing gorse and broom from the Waikoikoi glebe.--Half-cost to be offered. Resolved to share with the Baotist Church the cost- of renewing a dividing fence at Forbury. The Secretary reported that there were 65 teachers now relieving and 16 teachers on the sick list. The contractor for the conveyance of children to Moa Creek School was granted an increase of £2O.
