MEETINGS AND SOCIALS
Representatives of the various Rands of Hope in the City and suburbs met in Trinity Sunday School last night o discuss and arrange for the winter's session of temperance work among the young. Mr Armour occupied the chair. It was decided to ask .Sunday schools, Bible classes, and Junior Endeavor societies to have a temperance- meetings arranged,- the union to provide speakers when re.-juirod. The need of a lantern and sets of slides for this work was very much felt, and the committco trusted that some generou:; sympathiser would come to the rescue. It was resolved that the Band of Hope competitions, which had been discontinued owing to the war, be held this year, dates to be arranged later. .Sub-committee--wero appointed to select suitable nieces for the elocution and sinking sections. The annual meeting was arranged for M.-iv 3, two fdiort addresses to lie given oil various aspects of temperance work among the young. A discussion <n fp./i impcrt"ancs of educating boys and girls in the principles of temperance, and' the transaction of genera! business brought the meeting to a close.

Tuesda\-"even-ing last Mrs M'Cartney, acting superintendent, presided over another nood gathering. Three new members were" onrolled. Bro. J. Coniissinii'.- was present, and delivered a very interesting and instructive address to the girls and junior*!. Jiivi. W. Workman, assisted bv Bro. C. Williams, had charge- of the Bov .Scouts Bros. Dalton, G."C.T., and ' Sincockj D.C.T., were present, also Bro J. Hilton' Hon. ftee. of the Young Templars' League' who has been on the sick list for the past couple of Bro. Sn no Hands, of tho Hope of Dunedin Lodge, will have charge of the next meeting.
