The Auckland tramwaymen placed the demands of r the union before the Auckland City Council yesterday. The wages are claimed for under six headings—i.e.: Traffic—conductors, motonnen, signalmen, and car cleaners, from 2s Id to 2s 5d per hour;' depots—shed laborers and car cleaners, blacksmith strikers, pitmen, and car examiners, from 2s Id to 2s 3d ; workshops—general laborers, caretaker, blacksmith strikers, overhauled, oar adjusters, machine driller, machine moulder, coachworkers, from 2e Id to 2s 3d; permanent way—repairers and trackmen, 2s 2d; overhead—waggon drivers, assistant linesmen, linesmen, and emergency' men, 2s 2d to 2s 3d; power-house—trimmers, storemen, handymen, firemen and greasers, conveyor attendant, ewit hcoard, sub-stations, and 1 dynamo attendants, pump-house attenj dahts, from 2s Id to as 3d. Tor all branches of the service, with the exception of traffic (for which a week of 48 ho'irs is stipulated) a 47-ho' week, with payment for 48, is claimed.
