A/ire broke oat in Hughes and Wateiree' atabies si 11 o'ebok last night. & had a good hold before it was discovered. The stable and all its contents were complexly destroyed, also Herbert and &>.% bxdjj store and sheds and contents. The premises of Ma-rena (tobacconist), EHie (baker) and* Polling (boarding-house) were saved bv Etrenuoua efforts.
Hughes and Waterresf plant, indnding two lorries and a new motor car, n-ew praoticallyiminsured. and the loss is voir heavy. The stock in Herbert* and Co 4 bulk store was insured for £1,600, and was valued at £6,000. The buildings oooccupied by Pelling, Marenzi, and Ellis were damaged by water. The total loss *ia about £12,000.
