This champion went away with the 16th Reinforcements. He saw' the fight between Carpentier and Beckett, which lasted /4 eoeonds, and should be able to show some of hia boxing friends how the Frenchman swiftly put out Beckett. Smith reaches Dunedin to-night. A lanre crowd witnessed the Grey Boxin Association's three contests on Saturday night in the Town Hall. The Frenchman shone at infighting, while the Australian was superior in the ether departments, his footwork raid speed being especially noticeable. . The referee (Mr Tim Tracey) declared a draw.
