.» A fatal railway accident occurred at Palmerston North on Saturday night, a middle-aged man whose name is believed to be J. D. Robertson, a stranger to the town, being caught by a shunting train on a part of the line not used by pedest'.ians. Letters ' found on the body indicate that the de- ! ceased came from Singapore. i The body of Scoutmaster Samuel John- ! gon Birth, who was drowned while bathing at Pleasant Point, Xew Brighton, on j Easter Saturday, was recovered on Satur- ; day. At the inquest a verdict of accideni tel drowning was returned. j Edward Grubbins, aged about 60, a sawi mill hand, of Mananui, was drowned in I the harbor at Auckland on Saturday night. The deceased was walking on the wharf i when he fell over the side. The body was recovered a quarter of an hour later. Our Clyde correspondent wires :—A girl named Nora Moyniham was thrown from a horse at DrybTead yesterday and is now in the. Dunstan Hospital in a critical condition. Charles Chesterfield Grant, 18 years of age, who resides at 15 Oxford street, South Dunedin, met with a painful accident yesterday while shooting at Wickliffe Bay. He was crossing a fence, with his right hand over the muzzle of the gun. when the trigger caught on a wire, discharging the gun. The shot went through his hand, which v.'as severely lacerated. Ho was removed to The Hospital, where he was operated upon last evening. A P.A. message from Hamilton states that Marjory Baker, 18, while riding a bicycle, collided with a motor car on Saturday night. She was thrown heavily to the ground, and sustained a severe fracture at the base of the skull. She was conveyed to the Waikato Hospital, where she died earlv this morning. Olive Baker, aged two, was struck by a train while being wheeled over a railway crossing at Huntly on Tuesday, and who was admitted to the Waikato, Hospital, died yesterday.—Hamilton wire.
