RETURNING SOLDIERS
Nine Otago men. most of them with I .i-r.glish wives, arrived at Wellington on Saturday by tho Corinthic. They crossed Cook Strait- by the ferry service on Saturday night, and should reach Dunedin by tlie first' express to-day. Advice has also been received bv the local Defence Office that 24 troops" (two officers and 22 other ranks) are returning to Xew Zealand by the steamer Jonic. She left the "United Kingdom on March 31 for Auckland via Panama, and is due' to arrive there on May 12. The following oificers and men belonging to Otajo are returning by the Bem'uera. which is due at Auckland on .April 26 with 21 troops:—Temporary Captain P. J. E. Fordham.
