CITY WATER SUPPLY
INDEPENDENT REPORTS ASKED FOR. Cr Shacklock has given, notice to move at Wednesday night's meeting ot the City Council: That the Water Committee bo instructed to secure independent reports from two local ongineecrs (a) on the possibilities of better conservation of the supplies within the present water catchment areas, and (or) (l>) the adoption of extensions for the augmentation of the existing City wat-T supply.- The foliowing questions will servo as a basis for such reports;—(l) Are tlu present intakes, races, and reservoirs in good order? If not, state what is necessary to reinstate them, with probable coat? (2) Gan the storage in the present catchment areas be increased? if so, at what estimated cost? (3) Is there any source of supply in the present catchment areas available and not already utilised? Indicate where and the cost of connection. (4) What further catchment areas oar. be utilised, with outline of system to bo adopted and estimate of cost?
