MANY VESSELS DETAINED. VvAHTNE MISSES FIRST EXPRESSVhile Dunedin is being blessed with bright, sunny days, almost- every part of tho North Island, and, inde<?d, most places irom Lyttelton northwards in the South Island, is experiencing bad weather. According to telegrams from Wellington, that city has been bufietted by a heavy southerly gale for the past two days, and shipping has been delayed at several ports. No small vessels left Wellington yesterday on account of the boisterous weather, tho only departures being the Wahias for Lyttelton, and the Mokoia inr Napier. Gisborne, and Auckland, The Patemia r.rived at Wellington last evening, after a 22-hour run from Pictou. She was cruising in. Conk Strait until 3 p.m. yesterday, when sho had to steam to Cloudy Ray for shelter. The captain stated it was tho worst trip he could remember.
There has been no work carried out on the Wellington waterfront for the past, two devs. and in consequence many vessels will be further delayed there.* The P.-doona, which was origin ally fixed to leave Wellington yesterday for Melbourne direct, cannot be despatched until Tuesday afternoon.
No work has been carried out on tho shipping in port at Lyttelton since noon yesterday, and it was still raining heavily to-day, with no signs of tho* Weather clearing. Tho Wanaka, from Auckland, was delayed on the voyage to Lyttelton by a strong southerly gale, and did not reach her destination until 10.30 a.m. yesterday. A start has net vet been made to discharge her cargo, and she will nut, therefore, get away until Monday for Timaru, Camara, and Dur,< hn. The bad weather nt Lyttelton has • '-o delayed disc'll arsing operations on toe new steamer Nokatay, and this vessel will not reach. Dunedin until T uesdev to discharge Now York cargo. Tno Kahapo and Kokiri -have also been delayed in loading and discharging operations at Lyttelton.

The cargo steamer Citv of Aprs, which T’nt hack to Wellington on 'Thursday mivrn.nr owing to stress or weather, resumed her voyage to Sydney at 7 a.m. to-dav.
