WEST HARBOR COUNCIL
The monthly meeting of the West Harbor Borough Council wes h?k! h-t night, the Mayor (Mr H. E.' Moller) iu "the chair. It was decided, on a motion bv the Mayor, that a letter of sympathy be sent to aho relatives of the late Mr Hall. A letter was received from the hon. secretary oj the Ravensboume Football Club applying for the use of "the Association football ground in addition to the present Rugby ground.—lt was "decided to grant the club the use of the present Rugby ground at the usual fee. The secretary of the Dnnedin Returned Soldiers' Association wrote inviting the council to appoint two representatives: to attend the memorial service to be held on Anzac Day and to forward a wre.ath to mark their sympathy.—Cr Barker and the town clerk were appointed to represent the council, and the clerk was authorised to procure a. wreath. The district engineer wrote approving of the plans for the expenditure of £2OO in metalling tho West Harbor road and stating that he was applying for issue of authority, on receipt of "which- the work could be gone on with.—Received. The following resolution was received from th,e Town Clerk. Dunedin : " 'That in the opinion of this council tho special provision for the support, of children of an employee, which is now granted to employees in the service of the City Cotmcil, is not a matter that rightly devolves upon employers of labor, but should be dealt with under a national scheme under the direction of the Government: that with a view to giving effect to the foregoing policy and thereby affording some measure of relief against the excessive Cost of Living to the parents of large families, the Government be urged to consider a scheme providing for the pa-vment of a bonus to the parents of all "children of British nationality residing within the Dominion, under such regulations and conditions as may be prescribed; that a copy of the foregoing resolutions be forwarded to local members of Parliament and aJI borough councils throughout the Dominion, with a request for their co-operation and support _in the direction indicated."—lt was decided to support the resolutions. The Finance Committee reported that tho receipts for the month totalled £9O 3s 5d and th<f expenditure £173 12s 3d. There was a credit-balance of £473 16s 6d. Accounts amounting to £129 9s 4d were passed for payment.—Adopted.
