Maori, Port Chalmers. Manaroa, Port Chalmers. Kahika, Port Chalmers. The Kahika arrived at Port Chalmers early this morning from Westport via Oamaru with a part cargo of coal. She will load general merchandise at Dunedin to-morrow, and at Lyttelton about Saturday, for Napier and Gisborne. The Paloona, which arrived at Wellington to-day from Lyttelton, will sail <.n Friday direct for Melbourne. The Storm is due here on Saturday from northern ports, and will load for Timaru, Lyttelton. and Wanganui. The schooner Progress is now due at Dunedin with a cargo of from Grevmouth. After discharging she -will lord general cargo for Greymouth. T''-- Maheno was to dock at Sydney today for cleaning and painting. She is ' timed to kave the New South Wales port on Fridav afternoon for Auckland. The Monowai is to leave Auckland on Saturday for Napier. "Wellington, Lyttelton. and Diinrdin. She should arrive here 1 about Anvil 16. 1 The R.M.S. Makura left- Auckland last evening for Suva. Honolulu, and Vancouver, is clue at the Canadian port about April 20. Considerable difficulty was experienced by the owners of the Stella in securing bunker coal for the vessel, hut a sufficient ' I snpnly was kindly lent by the Otago Iron ,| Rolling Mills Co"., and she was able "to ' | set away last evening for the Campbell ' | Islands. The Stella is due back at Dun- ' j edin on Monday next with a shipment |of wool. After discharge she will probably dock at Port- Chalmers to have- a 1 new propeller fitted. | REMI'ERA FROM ENGLAND. J WAIMATE'S BOUGH TRIP. Storms of terrific intensity, lasting > ; 26 days, were experienced by the "'NW ; Zealand Shipping Company's steamer W'irimate, which arrived at Auckland oilThursday morning last from London •«« Panama. The vessel left London cr, January 22, and no sooner had sho cleared • the Thames than she ran into a howling gale, accompanied by huge seas, which - broke. aboard the vessel in an alarming ■ manner. Sho was tossed about like a cork, and on the run acro=s the Atlantis to Newport. News was " hove, to" o<\ several occasions. One of tho crew wsij caught in a lurch of the. ship and thrown into a doorway, and before he could recover himself the door crushed one of . his feet almost into pulp. A week out from Newport News a trimmer named P. . Donnelly, who was endeavoring te clear a jnmb in the bunkers, was buried alive through many ions of coal falling on him. After three and a-half hoars' digging bis dead body was recovered, and" on° the following day he was buried at sea. In addition to this, a third member of the crew contracted fever, and had to be t put ashore at Newport News. Several of the plates in the Waimatc were damaged, and these had to be lepaired before she was able te resume her 1 voyage. After clearing Newport News fine weather was experienced until March 31. when the steamer again met with t heavy weather, but did not sustain any damage. (For continuation see Late Shipping.)
