The :■■■■ ■ property- had been recovered.—Accused was remanded until Friday, bail being allowed iiimself in £25 and one surety of i a like amount. Frederick George Smith and John Alexander Metcalf were charged with stealing a handbag and contents of ■!: the value of £27 17s 6d, the property of Wilson Campbell.—The detective-sergeant asked for a remand until Friday. Smith, a porter on the railway, was already on remand on another charge, and he asked . that the bail be increased in his case, as other charges were pending. The other • accused, who was married, was also eraployed in the railway.—The accused were, remanded until Friday. Smith’s bail was Increased to £IOO, with two sureties of £6O each, and Metcalf’s was fixed—himself in £SO and two sureties of £25 each.
