Auckland Centre of the Amateur f~ ng Is'1 s '? oclatlon llave passed the folrw ,on i~‘‘ That the Auckland Centre take exception to the report of the president of the New Zealand Amateur v Association m connection with the conduct of the recent swimming champiOMnip meeting. It i s the unanimous opinion that the statement published is unfortunate, and that a grave indiscretion ha s been perpetrated at a time when club guevances had been forgotten and the Auckland Centre were stronger than ever previously in clubs and money, and a record championship success had been achieved Ihe centre regret that by an unwarranted report and a cynical resolution they had been placed in an undignified and an absolutely unmerited position . by the ISiew Zealand Council, whose action lends color to the suspicion that the report and the resolution are the result of the anticipations of a certain centre not having been realised.” ° QUEENSTOWN REGATTA. ° n i i G k l F c l, lowing Club Committee meeting the following were chosen to represent the club at the Queenstown regattaYouths’ Fours-—G. The annual meeting of the Otago Football Association was held last evenino-. The president (Mr S. S. Myers), in moving the adoption of thp annual report, said that they had every reason to believe that the game would flourish now that the war yas over and their members had returned. He hoped that the committee would remember that the young players were the ones who would carry on the game, and give them every opportunity to take the place of their seniors.—The report was . adopted. following officers were elected: President, Mr S. S. Myers; vice-presidents —The Mayor (Mr W. Begg), Messrs D. Anderson, A. M’Cutcheon, W. G. Cocking, R. Brown, W. Fleming, J. Milburn, H. J. Duncan, W. Fullerton, E. Nicholson; secretary, Mr G. The decision to appoint a sole selector, instead of a selection committee of three, was carried by 12 votes to 5, on the motion of Mr Aitcheson. Mr Fleming said he thought they, should do their best to secure playing grounds in ' every part of the City. Under present conditions there was a danger of encouraging Soccer in one particular district and neglecting others. He thought they should affiliate with the Sports Protection League, if it would help them to secure grounds. Another member asked how it was that the City Council granted Rugby clubs the itse of grounds for which the O.F.A. paid k rental. ■ \ Mr Brown said-the question of obtaining grounds was already under consideration • by a committee. 'Resolutions were _ carried recommending the incoming committee to have revised and printed ; to consider the advisability of appointing a number of honorary vice-presidents, at an annual subscription rate; to recommend to the New Zealand Council the adoption of some such scheme as that used by the New Zealand Cricket Council in_the Plunket Shield com- - . petition, in which the interprovincial matches are the, determining,Jactor,
