The Ulimaroa arrived at Sydney at 6 a.m. yesterday from Wellington., and is timed to sail on the return cn April 8. * = The, Kaikoura will shortly go on the loading berth at London, and will be despatched on May 31 for Suva and the South Island ports of New Zealand. , Ir S. The American four-masted schooner Commerce, after a passage of 27 days tiom Dunedin, reached Sydney on the night of March 17. The schooner encountered rough seas and strong northerly winds for the first 15 days.' The remainder of the voyage was marked fcv fine weather. The 1 steamer Anhault. which arrived in Port Melbourne Bay on March 16. is rn her first voyage to’ Australia. She "formerly sailed under the German flag, but at the outbreak of war was interned at Sourabaya, Java. Towards the end of last year she sailed to Port Said, and from there came to Melbourne, via She is berthed at the New Pier. Williamstown. loading dour for England. The Kini, hound from Westport to Dunedin with a full cargo of coal, passed Cape, Campbell at 4 p.m. yesterday. She should arrive here to-morrow morning, and will bo despatched on Saturday direct for Wellington. The Kaianoi is expected to leave Oama.ru on Thursday for WelHpgton and Greymouth. ?.he will load timber at the latter port for Melbourne. The Kotare. which arrived here last night with a full cargo of timber from Port Craig, will sail to-morrow for Timaru with general cargo booked by the John; returning to Dunedin about Saturday, and then laying up over the Easter holidays. The Wanaka will leave Auckland towards the end of this week with general cargo for discharge at Lyttelton, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Bluff. The Corinna arrived at New Plymouth at 8 a.m. to-day from Nelson. She is to sail to-night ~ for Picton to complete loading for Wellington, and is due pack at Dunedin towards the end of next week. The Waitomo left Auckland late last night for Newcastle, where she will load coal for Wellington. The Maheno arrived at Auckland at 7.45 p.m. yesterday from Sydney with mails, passengers, and a largo shipment of general cargo. She is timed to sail on the return vovago on Thursday afternoon. The Manuka, which was expected at Wellington this afternoon .from Sydnev, is carrying Australian mails, over 200 passengers, and a large general cargo.
THE FERRY SERVICE. Tfao Wahine arrived at Lyttelton at i.o a.m. to-day from. Wellington, and mails and passengers connected with the hrst express for the south. MANUKAU HARBOR. . -A- ‘ Gazette ’ notice gives further warning to master mariners' without local knowledge of the bar changes at Manukau Harbor, stating that they should not attempt, to.cross .the bar under .half-tide, and then only at such times when the semaphore and bar signals can be clearly seen. TRADE OF THE PORT OF LONDON. The rapid recovery of the shipping fciade of the Thames is indicated by returns recently compiled by the Port of London Authority. These show that the vessels which entered and left the port of London and paid tonnage dues during the six months ended September 30 last had a net tonnage of 9.959,175. This compares with a total of 6,083,591 net tons for the corresponding six months of 1918. Of the total increase 2,876,937 tons was in respect of vessels engaged in the foreign trade, and 998,647 tons was contributed 'by the coastwise trade. It may be added that the six months’ total of 9,959,175 tons contrasts with 13,077,713 tons for the year ended March 31, 1919. which included seven and a-half nionths of war. OUTGOING VANCOUVER.
