A LEGACY CLAIM
* ■ PECULIAR. POSITION REVEALED. [Pee United Piiess Association.] MAS'I'KRTON, March 25. A somewhat unusual case was heard by the Chief Justice .in the Supreme Court yesterday, when Mrs W. L. Falconer sought for, an increase in the legacy left her under the will of her late husband. The application was based on the. Family 'Protection Act of 12v3.- The n»fc value of the estate was £7,503, and the income £250, of which Mrs Falconer was to be paid £2 a week from the estate. The son was prepared that his mothers allowance ba increased from £lO4 lo £2OB peiannum. Mrs Falconer is at present, in receipt of the whole of the income from the estate, but upon Wiiliairr Clarence Falconer attaining the age of 21 years (in three years' time) 7 her income will be only £IC4 per annum. His Honor said it was problematical what was going to happen in land values between now and March 18, 1923, when young Falconer came of age. and after some discussion he announced that he would adjourn the case for three years. This, said His Honor, was the longest adjournment he had ever ordered, but if he fixed an amount upon present values injustiee_ might be done some members of the family.
