The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Young Women's Christian Association was held yesterday afternoon, with Mrs Duke in the chair and Mesdames K Nicholson. J. Chisholm, R. Vanes, J. .T. Clark. S. Wolf, H. Cook, J. Barr, W. J. Bardsley, Misses H. Alexander, Sligo, M. H:;s!ett, and Z. Ross also present. A report of the Dominion Conference recently held at Lower Hutt was heard with interest. It emphasised the necessity of an up-to-date knowledge of the needs of our City, and a more consistent effort to relate the association's activities to them. The work of the association has been slowly changing, and it is looked to to-day to furnish, opportunities for wholes some living to - hundreds of girls, regardless of their attitude towards the purpose that controls its leadership.. The general secretary's report advised progress in the Hearthliro Girths for younger girls, and the establishment of three of these in the suburbs of the Kaikorai Valley arid Northeast Valley, under qualified leaders. A letter from the president of tha Field Committee for New Zealand, summarising the results of various interviews of local represent.itives of the Y.W.O.A. throughout the Dominion with the agents of tho Imperial Government- regarding overseas arrivals, was de-alt with. A sub-commit-tee, with Mrs J. J. Clark as convener, was appointed to act with similar committees in other centres to further the arrangements for receiving tho girls and women coming to this country tinder the Government immigration scheme.
