INCREASED WAGES WANTED

CHRISTCHURCH, February 24. The Tramway Union were cited" before the Conciliation Council by the Tiamwtrf Board to-day, and application made b'v the board for an adjournment pending receipt of the result of the ballot, Tha application, was not opposed bv the union and an adjournment was granted till March 6.
Mr Armstrong, the union's 'secretarv said the ballot would bo unfavorable to acceptance of the employers' offer at the recent conference, and the Christchm-ch Lnion would demand an increafe on that olfer. The board's offer ranges from Is 6Jd to la 9£d per hour. The union asks from la lOd to 2s.
