At, last night' 3 meeting of the Morning, ton School Committee Mr- W. J. Bennett, of the Palmerston District High School, was unanimously recommended for the position of second male, assistant at the school.
Messrs Andrew Hamilton, Eric James Anderson, and Harold Hay Walker were to-day admitted as solicitors of the Supremo Court. Sir Joseph Ward intends to pay a visit to Australia next month, and thereafter to visit the Old Country. He expects to be away from the Dominion for about a year. Mr C. M. Berkeley is in town to arrange for the Musical Comedy Company's season, beginning with ' Yes, Uncle,' The 'Morning Post' (London) has the following about Miss Kathleen Levi, formerly of Dunedin: "There was much to enjoy in Miss Levfs piano-playing at S'teimvay Hall. It had the qualities that are best summed up in the word ' proficiency.' Her conception of Scarlatti had the proper sparkle, and, where required, smooth gentility j and her idea of Beethoven's ' Sonata in E., Op. 109/ constantly called attention to the charm and worth of the music. Her interpretation of the variations was especially pleasing in its freshness and sustained vitality, Mks Levi'3 playing always conveyed a aense of ease that inspired confidence. 1 '
