EMPIRE. Each session at the Empire Theatre was well attended yesterday, when the weekly change of programme was introduced. The headliner of this bill is one of the greatest Alaskan pictures ever produced, and is entitled ‘ Carmen of the Klondike,’ featuring Clara Williams. It is a virile sory, throbbing with lawless life of the Arctic north, and played amid snow scenes of surpassing beauty. Another picture of interest is ‘ The Exploits of Submarine U35.’ _ _ At the evening entertainment an exhibition of fancy ballroom dancing is given by Miss Debden and Mr Killean. The same bill of fare is running at the King Edward Theatre. KING’S. Apart from the interest of the tale itself ‘ Sylvia on a Spree,’ the feature film on the ; current bill at the King’s, contains some remarkable and at the present time very interesting sidelights on the gay life in a large American city. The costumes worn in many of the elaborate dancing scenes are remarkably fine, and the settings have been arranged with accuracy in every detail. Emmy Wehlen is the star, and is supported by a strong cast. ‘ Sylvia on a Spree ’ is supported by an attractive array_ of minor films, including a Charlie Chaplin comedy, ‘ Shanghaied.’ OCTAGON. A photo play, based on the famous stace success ‘ The Squaw 7 (Man,’ is being shown at the Octagon Theatre this week. Another attraction on the same programme is ‘ Comrade,’ a clever story, with Vivian Martin in the leading role. A Bray Pictograph and a comedy, ‘ Reilly’s Wash Day,’ complete a very fine programme. EVERYBODY’S. ‘The Bluffer,’ featuring June Elvidge and Muriel Ostriche, is at the head of an excellent programme at Everybody’s Theatre. It is an amusing story of how a girl bluffed her way into society without a penny to her name. A new chapter of the Pearl White serial, ‘ The Lightning Balder,’ is included in the supporting items, PLAZA. The last two days of ‘The Great Romance.’ starring the late Harold Lockwood, are announced at the Plaza Theatre. Some films of interest and a comedy are included in the strong programme offered. William Farnum in ‘True Blue’ will be the attraction on Friday. “ FIZZ ” WITH HEALTH" IN IT.
