A huge, deposit of copper has been discovered in the wilds of Western Australia, 37 rniies west of Mundi Windy telegraph station. It is distent from Meekat-harra 300 miles. The Inspector of Mines at Cue, having visited the locality, reports thnt the hill is qI schistose formation, 200 ft hi*h, and 400 yds long. Alonjg the strike of the formation copper was found in two caves 150 ft from the bottom, crossing the lode. Ono cava shows 4ft of carbonate of copper, and the other 2ft. The assays will probably average 30 per cent. In the outcrop above the caves a little copper shows reins of higher value, from which samples up to 50 per cent. i could be picked. The lode runs northj east-, underlying easterly ats aa angle of I 60deg. On the other side of the hill cop- '■- per shows in small veins, which the inspector thinks belongs to a parallel lode. No work has been done. The lode could be cheaply treated by driving 40ft from the hill bottom, and then driving 30ft on the lode, thus giving 150 ft of backs. Timber is scarce. The ore would require to be hand-picked to a high grade average to bear the cost of transport to the coast. Spinifex-clad hills of sugar-loaf shape lie within three miles radius, with ! granite and coarse greenstone showing on the flats.
